What is Mission of God?

Mission of God is a 6-week class designed to inspire students to develop a passion and conviction to take a clear next step to engage in God’s global purpose.

Through education, application, and Bible study, you will learn about God’s great mission to redeem people from every tribe, tongue, and nation to Himself. You will move from awareness and exploration to passion and conviction for God’s heart for the nations.

You will hear from speakers from a variety of backgrounds to learn more about God’s heart for the world as seen in Scripture, the mission of God in history, discipleship, evangelism, church planting, and more.

You will also apply principles to pursue the mission of God in your day-to-day life through training and unique guided applications.

Grow passion and conviction for God’s heart for the nations.

What to Expect

📝 Teaching and Discussion

We will meet weekly on Tuesday evenings from 6:00-8:30 pm to learn from a new speaker every week. We will then split into “discussion groups” for small-group discussion time.The weekly topics are:Week 1: God's Heart For the Nations from Genesis to Revelation
Week 2: God's Means for Accomplishing His Mission & His Purposes in History (From Resurrection - End of Scripture)
Week 3: Chronicles of Mission Movements (End of Scripture - Present Day)
Week 4: The Current State of the World
Week 5: Proclaiming the Gospel in Other Cultures (Strategy of Contextualization and Multiplication)
Week 6: How to Get Involved as a World Christian

💪 Application

The class is designed to engage you in application of what you have learned, so each week there will be opportunities for practical applications.All students will participate in at least three activities as they represent unique opportunities to help you personally experience for yourself some of the principles discussed in this program.

📖 Weekly Readings

Students will read through the book of Acts and complete optional readings from the course textbook, Discovering the Mission of God.

We are a group of missionally-minded individuals representing different organizations and churches in Jacksonville. We desire to see believers grow in their knowledge of God's heart for the nations and help them find their role in the Great Commission.
